Let's look at that
again - "to talk foolishly" That is this page
in a nutshell. This
is going to be the spot where Megan or I will post our admittedly
non-important views and opinions and generally just whatever
happens to be on our mind at any given moment.
Well - it's done.
The movie has been viewed, the leviathan has been faced with
a grim determination.
Actually, I was sitting
here thinking, "Hey - maybe the theater up the street is
playing Attack of the Clones" A few mouse clicks later
I learned that it was and the next showing was at noon. So I
hustled my keister on up the street and bought my ticket. The
theater was about half empty and composed mostly of guys my
age. Some with a buddy and some like me - buddyless and alone.
A smattering of kids here and there as well.
So my verdict? It
was ...... painless. No, I take that back. It was good. Enjoyable.
Nothing horrible that I can point at and say, "EVIL!"
a'la JarJar Binks. Anakin is becoming sufficiently dark and
forboding. Amidala is all action now - no sitting in the Senate
for her, no sir. Maceo Windu is ultra cool of course. Ewan MacGregor
is great as ObiWan - what a difficult role that must be to basically
be told, "Here. Watch this movie. That's Sir Alec Guiness.
Be him." JarJar is kept to the sidelines
except for the one moment where he basically dooms the entire
Republic and paves the way for the Empire. Smooth move J.J.
And Yoda? Yoda KICKS ASS. Must be seen to believed.
Bad points? They're
not really bad as they are just korny. Stupid puns. Silly
foreshadowing that was done for a laugh. And here's a point
that stuck in my craw - C-3PO winds up with Anakin's mom on
Tattooine. She marries Owen Lars' father and brings Threepio
with her. So how come at the beginning of A New Hope when Luke
brings home Artoo and Threepio and Uncle Owen sees them he doesn't
say, "Hey! Threepio! I remember you!"
I don't know. It
was pretty good. The Jedi battle was super cool. Jango Fett
was cool. But for someone like me who grew up with Star Wars
and who occupied so much of his time as a child and an adult
with Star Wars and everything remotely involved with it - well
you can't help but think about what could have been.
And what should have
been.
