Megan and I have a small bowl that Megan decorated at her bachelorette party that we keep fruit or bagels or whatever in. It used to be on the counter but at our new apartment, counter space is at a premium so we decided to put it on top of the fridge. We've been on a bagel kick lately so that's where we've been keeping them.

Well, awhile back, maybe 3 weeks ago, I noticed our kitchen was - well - stinking. I assumed it was the garbage, but I took the garbage out and could still smell it. Then I thought something went bad in the fridge, but I didn't find anything exceptionally rancid in there. I guess I just got used to the smell, or it went away shortly thereafter.

Oh - another important part of the story - around this time is when Megan got on her banana kick. Most of you see where I'm going with this. We had some week old bagels in the bowl, so I took them out and I felt something else. Something leathery.

I apologize for the blurriness - my digital camera doesn't work so hot up close. And if that doesn't get you hungry then maybe this will....

I don't think that picture captures the true furriness of the banana. There's a mold METROPOLIS going on there. You can count about eight different colors of spores on that thing. I think I got a years worth of penicillin just touching it.

Thankfully, there's no smell anymore.
